Daily Management and Operation of Air Compressor

The daily management of air compressors is similar to other mechanical equipment, but relatively simpler, without cumbersome operations, and does not require sufficient professional knowledge reserves. Management personnel can basically do a good job in daily management after simple training. Taking the most common air-cooled air compressor as an example, daily management is divided into electrical system management and maintenance, cooling system management and maintenance, discharge system management and maintenance, lubricating oil system management and maintenance, auxiliary equipment management system maintenance; a total of five aspects. The management personnel's responsible inspection and maintenance of the operations and inspections involved in the above five aspects are sufficient to avoid and reduce air compressor failures, and even achieve trouble-free operation.

Electrical System Inspection:

  1. Power supply voltage, current changes during loading and unloading processes, and current changes as pressure increases during loading process.

  2. Check whether each monitoring value is within the allowable change range. The exhaust temperature is generally 85-95°C, depending on the ambient temperature ±10°C or so.

  3. All alarm monitoring is normal. It is recommended to test each month, such as high temperature alarm, etc.

Cooling System Inspection:

  1. Check the start-stop temperature value of the cooling fan, and the start-stop action is timely and reliable. Note that adjust the temperature value of the cooling fan's automatic start-stop according to the ambient temperature. Generally between 75-85°C. When the ambient temperature is too high, the fan start temperature value can be lowered to intervene in cooling in advance. Conversely, when the ambient temperature is too low, the fan start temperature value can be increased to delay cooling. In extreme conditions, the cooling system can even be isolated.

  2. Visually check the fan rotation status, which should be stable and reliable. The cooler surface is dry and free of debris.

Discharge System:

  1. Check each discharge part, with good sealing and no leakage.

  2. Regularly discharge sewage at each discharge point. For those with automatic drainage/sewage solenoid valves, observe their status, and adjust the solenoid valve switch cycle according to the amount of sewage discharge to prevent the sewage discharge cycle from being too short, resulting in incomplete discharge of oil, water and dirt, or too long sewage discharge cycle causing waste. In addition, for manual sewage discharge points, the sewage discharge frequency needs to be adjusted according to the relative humidity of the environment and the amount of sewage discharge.

Lubricating Oil System:

The lubricating oil system includes air compressor coolant and motor bearing grease. Daily inspections are mainly visual inspections. Focus on observation:

  1. Observe that the liquid level at the oil separation barrel is between the highest and lowest scales.

  2. Observe the color of the lubricating oil at the liquid level mirror, no deterioration or emulsification, etc. For the inspection of motor bearing lubrication, generally listening to the sound and measuring the temperature at the bearing is sufficient. For air compressors that operate for a long time, bearing grease should be added monthly.

Auxiliary Equipment System:

Common auxiliary equipment configurations are refrigerated dryers and adsorption dryers, and various functional precision filters on pipelines.

Refrigerated Dryer:

  1. Check and record the high and low pressure of the equipment compressor and the inlet and outlet temperatures of the refrigerant every day.

  2. Check the condenser. Generally, the condenser is air-cooled, and the inspection requirements are the same as the air compressor cooler.

  3. Check that the refrigeration compressor operates stably and reliably without abnormal vibration.

Adsorption Dryer:

The adsorption dryer operates statically. Daily inspection is to ensure no leakage, and regularly replace the adsorption material.

Precision Filters:

Daily discharge of residual impurities from each precision filter and regular replacement of filter elements. For high-quality air compressor filters and accessories, you can visit our product website at https://www.kpkfilter.com/products/.

The daily maintenance inspection items of the air compressor are based on the above five aspects, which can basically ensure the smooth operation of the air compressor. You can formulate daily inspection and maintenance record forms based on these five aspects and refer to the equipment manual, which is more conducive to air compressor management. Having records also facilitates after-sales personnel to analyze equipment operation status and troubleshoot when failures occur.
